September Ward 9 Community Meeting Townhall #Ward09

Neighbors, mark the calendar: the next 9th Ward Community Meeting Townhall is Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026, at Pullman Presbyterian Church, 550 E. 103rd Street, starting at 6:30 p.m.

These monthly gatherings are one of the most practical places on the Far South Side to get straight answers and share what is happening on your block. This month’s program features the Cook County Board of Appeals, ComEd, the Small Business Administration, and more.

Bring your questions. Property tax appeals, utility service, small-business help, street conditions, city services, and neighborhood resources are all on the table. Come ready to hear updates and to speak up with ideas, suggestions, and concerns for Pullman, Roseland, West Pullman, Riverdale, and the rest of the 9th Ward.

Questions before the meeting? Call Ald. Anthony Beale’s office at 773-785-1100. The ward office also notes that the townhall schedule can change, so a quick call is worth it if you are making special plans to attend.

Chicago Mayoral Race 2027 Update: Mayor Johnson Officially In

Mayor Brandon Johnson announced Sunday that he is running for a second term. He posted a campaign video and is holding a launch event at the DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center.

Watch Johnson’s announcement video:

In the video he says the city is “just getting started,” and he frames a second term around affordability, public safety, housing, mental health clinics, a pause on new data centers, and higher taxes on higher-income residents.

Political reporter Brandon Pope was on FOX 32's Chicago Morning News talking about Mayor Johnson's announcement and his current tough polling numbers. With that said, Pope mentions that the Mayor is still popular among Black voters. [VIDEO]

The election is February 23, 2027, with a possible runoff on April 6. Petitions are due in late October.
